HARP (Home Affordable Refinance Program) was set up by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) in March 2009 to aid homeowners who were underwater, or close to being underwater, refinance into lower rate mortgage. In December 2011 the program was modified, HARP 2.0.
Since the inception of the program, one of the main factors that determined qualification was that your current mortgage must have been acquired by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac on or before May 31, 2009. This criteria has eliminated many homeowners from being able to take advantage of the many benefits of a Ohio HARP Refinance.
Earlier this month, a petition was created on the White House’s petition site, We The People, you can find the petition here: Petition to Extend HARP Qualification Date.
Take a second and create an account, and sign the petition. If the petition receives 100,000 signatures within 30 days it will require an official response. Share this with your friends, family, and co-workers.
If you think you may qualify under the current Ohio HARP Refinance guidelines, take a second and complete the Ohio HARP Refinance Rate Quote request form, or Contact Me directly and we can discuss your options.
